The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, DC is looking for a Press, Media and Public Diplomacy [JB emphasis] Specialist

Position: Press, Media and Public Diplomacy Specialist

Type of employment: Full-time employment for 1 year on a local contract with possibility of multiple extensions

Responsibilities:

You will take on the full-time position of Press, Media and Public Diplomacy [JB emphasis] Specialist, as part of the Embassy’s Culture, Science and Media team. You will work directly with the Embassy’s Press Counselor in all areas of public relations, media relations, public diplomacy, digital diplomacy, and event management.

You will play an integral role in driving the Embassy’s proactive public and digital diplomacy program as well as its media outreach, using your skills to develop key relationships with US media and partner institutions.

This bilingual role at the Embassy encompasses a wide range of responsibilities and requires excellent writing skills, in-depth knowledge of international events, a high level of sensitivity and discretion, schedule flexibility, and the ability to handle crisis situations under pressure.

Tasks:

Development and implementation of the Embassy’s social media strategy via the Embassy’s website as well as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube accounts. Development and execution of public diplomacy campaigns and projectsAssistance with high level delegations, including managing press and media agendasTranslations (from Polish to English). Speech writing. Taking photos at Embassy events. Development and execution of a wide range of public diplomacy events (conferences, debates, seminars), often in collaboration with external organizations (think tanks, universities, etc.). Preparation and distribution of information on Poland/Polish matters to various outlets and target audiences, writing press releases and articles

Qualifications and Skills:

Completed BA/BSc or MA/MSc degreeStrong writing skills: native English speaker and a very good knowledge of Polish. Developed writing style that allows you to craft a wide variety of texts with ease (articles, statements, letters, etc.). Understanding of social media’s role in public diplomacy and experience in managing social media accounts. Event management experience. Excellent translation/editing skills. Interest in current affairs and international politics. Understanding of Polish history and foreign policy. Computer proficiency. Attention to detail. Creativity. Excellent interpersonal skills. High level of professionalism and ability to work well in a team. Ability to work under time pressure. Flexibility
