At yesterday’s weekly cabinet meeting, Strategic Affairs and Public Diplomacy Minister Gilad Erdan presented the Palestinian Authority’s index of incitement to acts of violence against Israelis.
“I intend to methodically expose the Palestinian culture of incitement among relevant communities around the world,” Erdan said.
At the meeting, Erdan referred to youth programs featured on the PA’s television channel calling for the death of Jews. incitement to terrorism by PA President Mahmoud Abbas, and incitement from other Palestinian media sources as well.
The index presented by Erdan suggests an increase in anti-Semitic incitement by the PA through religious leaders and schools. To combat the issue, Erdan suggested a number of proposals, including damaging the PA economically by freezing assistance on the condition that it stop incitement, exposing the Palestinian culture of incitement to the international community, increasing “open and concealed presence on social networks,” according to Israel’s Government Press Office, and more.
PM Netanyahu has directed the inciting materials in the index to “EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and EU member state foreign ministers, and to all Foreign Ministry missions,” according to the Government Press Office.
