“Rzeszow and the Podkarpackie region are symbols of our accomplishments in the last 25 years, of our success,” Minister Grzegorz Schetyna [see] said, opening the meeting.

“I am glad that the public diplomacy meeting is held here, in Rzeszow, and that its participants will have a chance to get to know the city and the region better,” the chief of Polish diplomacy added, saying that he hoped “in the future, the meeting will produce many joint promotional projects across the world.”

This year’s meeting of directors of the Polish Institutes and other representatives of Polish public and cultural diplomacy serves as an opportunity to discuss ways of promoting Poland in 2016-2020 and next year’s priority activities. The debate also focuses on the implementation of mechanisms that will support the municipal and civil dimensions of public diplomacy as well as preparations for Expo 2022 in Lodz. The meeting is also an occasion to share experiences and familiarize its participants with the most interesting projects carried out by the Polish Institutes, embassies and consulates worldwide.

This year’s opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk and local government officials: the Podkarpackie Voivode Małgorzata Chomycz–Śmigielska, Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship Władysław Ortyl and the Mayor of Rzeszow Tadeusz Ferenc.

Public diplomacy meetings are held each year in a different Polish city. They give regions the opportunity to present their economic and cultural potentials. This year’s meeting in Rzeszow will include visits to the International Education Center in Kielnarowa and the Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park Aeropolis, among others. The meeting will last until 2 July 2015.
