Op-Ed: I stand with Ran Baratz

A denunciation of another leftist Stalinist witch hunt - against recently appointed Head of Public Diplomacy and Media at the Prime Minister's Office, Ran Baratz.

One must not dare to insult His Majesty Barack Obama nor His Royal Highness John Kerry. It is however permissible and perfectly fine to describe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "chicken***".

That is why I stand with Dr. Ran Baratz. Not because he was particularly "diplomatic". But because I can't suffer the hypocrisy behind the attacks against him and the witch hunt the Left has orchestrated to destroy this Israeli researcher. If Ran Baratz should be dismissed, Samantha Power should follow the same path, since she said, before being chosen for the UN, that the US should "impose a solution" on Israel and other pithy remarks, including taking the land away from the Jews. And would you like to talk about Susan Rice's anti-Israel attitude?

Ran Baratz was the victim of a political Stalinist coercion campaign. Baratz as a private person expressed legitimate views when he was not a public figure.
However, Baratz's biggest "sin" is living in Kfar Adumim, a Jewish town in Judea, and so belonging to the so-called "Jewish settlers", the world's most hated group of people. Baratz also supported the idea of Jewish prayer on Temple Mount, while the Israeli left would give it up tomorrow.

Baratz's case brings to mind the case of Lt. Colonel Shalom Eisner, who was suspended from duty in April 2012 after striking a Danish anarchist who broke his finger while the anarchist was blocking a highway near Jericho. The Israeli leftist media, which is totally bankrupt, took the side, once again, of the “pacifists” who sought to supplement the jihadist campaign. Except for one protest, a few articles and statements, and Arutz Sheva, Eisner was left alone. A proud Jew, a human being, a father and a soldier was willing to lose everything because he cared about his fellow soldiers and citizens.

Baratz's biggest "sin" is living in Kfar Adumim, a Jewish town in Judea...
On Baratz, the Israeli Left has crossed all lines of reasonableness with its hypocrisy. An Israeli patriot getd lessons om morality by commentators such as Ze’ev Sternhell who wrote. before he was chosen to receive the Israeli prize.despite protests: “There is no doubt about the legitimacy of the armed resistance in the territories themselves. If only the Palestinians had a bit of sense, they would have been concentrating their struggle against the settlements, not hurting women and children and would avoid shooting at Gilo (a southern part of Jerusalem that was under daily fire, ed.)  Nahal Oz (kibbutz near Gaza, ed.) and Sderot. They should also avoid detonating explosives on the western side of the Green Line. This way the Palestinians themselves would delineate the outline for a solution that will be undoubtedly achieved in the future”.

Sternhell thus gave his approval to Palestinian terrorism in the midst of the Second Intifada, when his own students were being butchered on buses and over 1000 Israelis were killed.

A few days ago, Amos Oz, the Israeli literary darling, declared that he is boycotting the Israeli embassies abroad when he presents his books. Are these people in a position to teach ethics and diplomacy to Ran Baratz?

If you are "right-wing", so the prevailing wisdom goes, you have no hope of a career or academic advancement in Israel. Ran Baratz said the truth: Obama, Kerry and the gaggle in the White House are anti-Semitic.
