A Forum “The role of public diplomacy in the development of international humanitarian cooperation”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the VOKS-USSF-Roszarubezhcentr- Rossotrudnichestvo opened in Moscow.
More than 500 delegates from 100 countries participated in the Forum. Among the foreign participants of the Forum are representatives of societies of friendship with Russia in foreign countries, public authorities, the media, parliamentarians, artists, experts in the field of Russian language and literature.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Culture V. R. Medinsky, and Russian President's Special Representative for international cultural cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy greeted the participants of the event. The delegates were addressed by the member of the State Duma Committee on the CIS Affairs, Eurasian integration and communications with compatriots V. N. Lihachev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Moldova, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo (2008-2012) F. M. Muhametshin, French singer Mireille Mathieu and President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli.
The Forum was attended by well-known Russian politicians, public figures, pop stars, representatives of films and arts. Within the program held a ceremony of stamped envelope release “90th anniversary of Public Diplomacy” with participation of the Head of Rossotrudnichestvo L. N. Glebova and Head of the Federal Agency of Communication O. G. Dukhovnitsky. In addition, held a rewarding ceremony for the participants of the contest “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, “Russia: five reasons of my sympathy” from CIS countries and Europe.
In the thematic sections of the guests and participants of the Forum exchanged views and practical experiences on such topics as: the interaction of States on the inter-parliamentary level, current status and development of public diplomacy, promotion of Russian culture, education and the Russian language abroad, as well as the role of media in the development of international humanitarian cooperation. All of these sections were held at various venues of the partner organizations of Rossotrudnichestvo.
