Open World Ukraine Program Welcomes 3,000th Participant

The Open World Leadership Center, an agency of the U.S. Congress, is pleased to announce the arrival of its 3,000th participant from Ukraine, Ms. Viktoria Hrydasova, age 28, from Bekhtery, Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine. Ms. Hrydasova is the general manager of Organic Systems, which specializes in the cultivation of tomatoes, grain, and industrial crops and farms 1,800 hectares (4,447 acres). A graduate of the Kherson State Agricultural University, Ms. Hrydasova is interested in learning about new harvest yield technologies in the U.S. and how they can contribute to more efficient business operations for her enterprise in Ukraine.
Ms. Hrydasova and her fellow agriculture specialists will be hosted in Harrisburg, PA by the Friendship Force of Harrisburg from April 22 - 30. In Harrisburg, the Ukrainians will have meetings at the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and meet with the State Agronomist, who will present on vegetable growing and organics, as well as many other agricultural initiatives. The group will also visit area farming operations, including the Dickenson College Farm.
Prior to their departure for Harrisburg, the group will meet with the offices of Senator Robert Casey and Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson to discuss agricultural issues in Ukraine and Pennsylvania.
Open World has introduced more than 25,000 current and future decision makers from Eurasia and other countries to American political and civic life and to their American counterparts. Open World delegates range from first-time mayors to veteran journalists, from nonprofit directors to small-business advocates, and from political activists to judges at all levels.
Open World supports Congressional outreach to their counterparts abroad. It conducts exchanges that establish lasting professional relationships between the up-and-coming leaders of Open World countries and Americans dedicated to showcasing U.S. values and democratic institutions. The U.S. Congress established Open World in 1999.
