Trip of British Cultural Delegation to discover Czech Art

From 10 to 14 April 2017, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London organised a visit of British cultural delegation to the Czech Republic with chosen personalities from the UK, as part of the Embassy´s public diplomacy programme “Czech Republic 100”. The delegation visited a variety of Czech galleries, ateliers and artists in Prague, Český Krumlov and Brno. 
The delegation was composed of Mr. Jonathan Watkins, director of the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, Mrs. Megan Piper, director of the Piper Gallery in London, Mrs Susan Moore, journalist for the Financial Times and Mr. Matthew Stephenson, freelance art historian and former director of Christie's branch in Moscow. The group was accompanied by Mr. Miroslav Ambroz, the art historian and Mr. Vladimír Kokolia, painter and Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.

The delegation visited a number of significant Czech galleries, ateliers and artists such as the National Gallery in Prague, Jakub Špaňhel’s exhibition in J&T Bank Praha, the exhibition of Jan Bolf in Václav Špála´s Gallery, František Skála’s exhibition in the Wallenstein Riding School in Prague, the atelier of Daniel Pitín in Prague, Pavel Brázda’s exhibition in the Egon Schiele Art Centrum in Český Krumlov, the world renowned Villa Tugenhadt and the exhibition of Milan Grygar in Brno. As part of the visit, Mrs. Susan Moore conducted an interview with painter and graphic artist Pavel Brázda, which should be printed in the main Saturday cultural section of The Financial Times.



Following on from the cultural delegation visit, an exhibition of Pavel Brázda's artwork has been organised on 1 June in Birmingham by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in cooperation with Birmingham City Council, as part of the aforementioned public diplomacy programme “Czech Republic 100”.
