John Brown A great event -- but, had there been time, I would have ventured to ask -- given the changed information landscape, due to the social media in our new era well described by the speaker --John Lansing, new CEO of the U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors [BBG]-- the following question: "'Voice of America' as a name ('brand') is oh-so-20th-century ....How about renaming it 'Voices of America' telling America's stories (not just 'story'), as was the norm in the late 1900s?" Mr. Lansing did show an strong interest in VOA "curating" (if I understood him correctly, the BBG using non USG-produced information materials) so that Americans, through their government, could share ideas even more effectively with the world.
