The German Embassy in Washington seeks to fill a term-limited position for a coordinator of the nationwide public diplomacy campaign “Deutschlandjahr in den USA 2018/19” from the beginning of January 2018 until December 31, 2019.

The position will largely entail the following duties and responsibilities:

Serve as central administrative point of contact for planning and execution of all tasks involved in the public diplomacy campaign (in particular, support department head)
 Coordinate and communicate with Goethe-Institut
 Coordinate and communicate with Consulates General and partner organizations
Interface with all sections within the Embassy involved in the public diplomacy campaign
 Interface between the Embassy and U.S. institutions (working level)
 Represent the Embassy at all working meetings with U.S. and German institutions on a
case-by-case basis
 Prepare project committee meetings and follow-up
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
 Bachelor’s degree or comparable German or U.S. vocational training
 Very good knowledge of written and spoken German and English
 Exceptional organizational skills
 Ability to communicate and work in a team
 Experience with project management
 Knowledge of computer application programs, in particular Word and Excel

Contract conditions and compensation are based on the standard employment agreement for nondiplomatic staff at the German foreign missions in the U.S. and on the corresponding pay scale. Applicants who are not U.S. citizens must have a valid green card or a valid G4 visa with an unrestricted work permit.
