Sixteen years ago, US President Clinton came to Vietnam, beginning a new era of cooperation between our two countries.
AUV is the first and only American University in the country. With an establishment license from the Ministry of Education and Training and the support of many local and national leaders in Vietnam, the programmes of American University in Vietnam (AUV) provide solid grounding in critical thinking as well as degrees in Business, Hospitality Management, Computer Science and Communication during its inaugural year. Future degree programmes are anticipated in Engineering, Environmental Science, Health Sciences, and Pre-Medicine, as well as graduate degrees such as the MBA, MPA and Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language.

The courses are the same as found in top tier US universities, with a curriculum designed by educators with degrees from Harvard, Wharton, Duke, UCLA and other American partner schools.
A modern campus in Da Nang, partnerships with scores of US universities, and a solid curriculum are all part of the continuing legacy of the APU Group brand in Vietnam.
AUV is at the heart of the APU Educational Development Group, which has provided quality K-University education, both at its originalhome in Ho Chi Minh City and also in Da Nang City.

Nirschel, Founding President of AUV. The APU Group is the only Center of Excellence for US students studying abroad in Vietnam.
APU is authorised to use the US State of California curriculum and standards; it employs highly qualified US-educated teachers, and is a member of the College Board (a designated SAT, ACT and AP coursestesting centre), the Institute of International Education (IIE), AMCHAM, and numerous other organisations.
An APU education uses the latest technology and teaching methodsinside the classroom, but also encourages students to help others. APU students and alumni donate thousands of hours of time each year to community service projects; with orphans, the elderly and the disadvantaged. Community service, leadership development and classroom learning gives students a well-balanced education.
APU is also unique in all of Vietnam in providing a Dual Enrolment programme whereby outstanding students can earn college credits (from the University of Missouri – Kansas City) while still in high school. A motivated student can earn up to two years of college credits, saving money for the family and accelerating the time to degree completion.
APU graduates are recruited by top tier American universities, often receiving merit-based scholarships and emerging as leaders both within and outside the classroom. Last year over 90 per cent of eligible graduates received scholarship offers with the total amounts exceeding US$3 million. Over 80 per cent of APU graduates have been placed on the Dean’s list after their first year at many highly respected US universities, including Penn State, University of Washington, UT-Austin, UCLA, campuses of California State University and many others.
The APU Group has also emerged as the leader in Vietnam for study abroad from the US. From University of Maine to UCLA, California State campuses, the US Military Academy (West Point) and others, hundreds of US students have enjoyed an internship, living and learning experience in Vietnam at APU and AUV.

John,
Many schools and businesses "welcomed" Obama to Vietnam, some did coincidental w other activities.
If you check out the American Unuversity in Vietnam it has an operating license from MOET, buildings, curriculum, accredited US partners, privately funded....so the downside of that is?

I hope you are as probing about the Fulbright Unuversity project which is a Vietnamese university masquerading as a us one.
