Job Title: Center Director
Type: FullTime
Salary Range: Basic @ BDT 117,089.00 + House Rent @50% on Basic + Medical Allowance @ 9% on Basic +Conveyance Allowance @ 8% on Basic. 10% of basic contributed monthly by the employee and 10% of basic by the organization after completion the one-year service period.

OVERVIEW:

The Edward M. Kennedy Center for Public Service and the Arts (EMK Center) is an interactive space designed for social entrepreneurs, artists, and change makers. Located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, this initiative is an initiative of the American Center, with overall supervision by the University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh (ULAB).

The EMK Center recognizes the potential of a person and provides a platform to showcase their aptitude. We respect the ability of the youth to see what is possible, what should be, and their potential to make it so.

The EMK Center firmly believes that even one person has the power to bring on positive change through public service. Be it through volunteerism, through one’s career, through fostering entrepreneurship, etc. Public service has tremendous potential to transform our societies. The Center extends support to any organization or individual who is willing to dedicate time and effort to bring about change through the engagement of youth. The Center’s objective is to connect individuals and organizations to each other, support them and create a synergy that is beneficial to Bangladesh both in the short and the long run.

PRELIMINARY REQUIREMENT:
  • Minimum Post graduation & Professional qualification (major in any field of Business Administration, Social Sciences, Humanities) 
  • At least one degree (preferably undergraduate) from the United States, and has a variety of experiences that encompass promotion of entrepreneurship and start-ups, the visual and the performing arts, has worked in the promotion of rights, leadership, and volunteerism, promoting education, emerging technologies, managing grants, report writing, and great communication and liaison skills
  • Fluent in spoken English and Bengali
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong written, oral and visual communication/presentation skills, knowledge of the cultural scene, the entrepreneurial/start-up eco system, emerging technologies, and awareness of various socio-economic issues affecting Bangladeshi Youth are essential.

Must be a Bangladeshi citizen

CHARACTERISTIC TASKS:
  • Develop and maintain operational plans and communications srategies.Manage financial and human resources.
  • Develop programs in support of the EMK Center communication strategy driven by the U.S. Embassy mission goal of furthering public diplomacy [JB emphasis] in Bangladesh.
  • Develop annual programming strategy also based on analysis of social and political change, assessment of trends, and youth driven public interest.
  • Maintain constant liaison with the Public Affairs personnel of the US Embassy, the board of trustees of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, and maintain communiqué with more than 4,000 paid members and volunteers, and coordinate social media via FB, Instagram, Twitter and the website.
  • Ensure compliance with the U.S. government and Bangladesh government rules and regulations with regards to internal financial management of the Center.
  • Evaluate proposals and curate exhibitions and performances under the Center’s EMK-Platform and EMK-Happy Hour banners.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and follow up various EMK Center activities and programming.
  • Maintain strong social media presence and use such tools to measure effectiveness of EMK Center programming and communication strategy. The center maintains a strong public presence via social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual program and financial report for the State Department.
  • Maintain and monitor outreach programs on behalf of the Center.
  • Represent EMK Center in various forums, roundtables, and conferences.
