TEHRAN, Dec. 16 (MNA) – The Iranian Film Festival began on Friday 15 December 2017 in Seoul, South Korea and will continue until December 17.
At the opening ceremony of the festival, Iranian Ambassador to South Korea, Hassan Taherian, and the South Korean Foreign Ministry Public Diplomacy Director, Ms. Park Youna, were present alongside with Iranians and South Korean cinema-goers.
The South Korean official hailed the event as “it marks the fifty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of political relations between the two countries and it aims to strengthen the cultural and other relations between the two countries.
Hassan Taherian, for his part, highlighted the achievements of Iranian filmmakers at the national and international levels adding "Iranian cinema has an independent identity and effective presence based on human and moral values."
He emphasized the importance of such events as they make Koreans familiar with Iranian culture and cinema.
In the festival, a number of seven Iranian films will be displayed including the film ‘Where is the Friend’s Home?’ directed by Iranian well-known filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.
