The Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya announced Thursday that Prosor, 57, who served as Israel's ambassador to the UN from 2011 - 2015, will take up the Abba Eban chair in international diplomacy at its Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy, and also serve as an advisor at its Argov Fellows Program in Leadership and Diplomacy.

The Eban chair was previously held by Michael Oren, another former Israeli ambassador who landed at the IDC after serving for more than four years as Israel’s envoy to Washington. Perhaps a harbinger of what lies in store for Prosor, Oren went from IDC to the Knesset as a Kulanu MK.

Among Prosor’s positions at the Foreign Ministry, which he joined in 1986 and left this year, include spokesman at the embassy in London, political consul at the embassy in Washington, director-general of the foreign ministry and ambassador to Britain.

Prosor said that after serving for nearly three decades in the foreign service, “I felt that my next step should be preparing future leaders in public diplomacy.”
