Image from, with accompanying text: Today’s British Embassy was built as the Rangoon headquarters of Glasgow-based shipping and insurance company J. and F. Graham in 1900. As common for embassies, the building has been kept in immaculate shape, with fine lattice windows and an entrance awning covering the sidewalk. Guards are very protective, and photographs prohibited. The embassy contains a library and the British Council offers English language classes. The back of the building is rather unattractive, facing a parking lot that separates it from the Strand Mansion. Both 37th and 38th Street are blocked at the Strand Road end for security reasons.
