U.S. Embassy in Islamabad: Seeking Applications for Public Diplomacy Grants Program in Pakistan

The Community Engagement Office (CEO) of the Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad is seeking applications from eligible organizations for its Public Diplomacy Grants program with an aim to reduce violent extremism and terrorism, by promoting a comprehensive approach to address violent extremist challenges in Pakistan and the unique contributions that communities, civil society, and the private sector can make to this effort.
Objectives
  • Counter Narrative [JB - See]: Dispel the narratives of extremist groups that incite violence and provide alternative narratives.
  • Capacity Building: Increase capacity within communities to reduce violent extremism with an emphasis on religious leaders, youth, and women.
  • Preventative Outreach: Provide positive alternatives to ordinary citizens – especially younger Pakistanis – susceptible to recruitment into violent extremism.
Funding Information
  • Individual Award Amounts: A one-year proposal may not exceed $150,000, and a two-year proposal may not exceed $300,000.
  • Duration of Award: One to two years.
Eligibility Criteria
  • All U.S. and Pakistani registered non-governmental organizations (for-profit or non-profit) with relevant programming experience are eligible to apply. This experience should be documented in the organization’s proposal.
  • Organizations must provide proof of registration with their application. U.S.-based organizations should submit a copy of their IRS determination letter.
  • Pakistan-based organizations should submit a copy of their certificate of registration from the appropriate government organization.
  • Applicants are allowed to submit only one proposal per organization. If more than one proposal is submitted from an organization, all proposals from that institution will be considered ineligible for funding.
