Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities):  The British Embassy in Bratislava is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Digital Communication Officer.
The main purpose of the job is to plan, create, administer and maintain content for all Embassy digital channels – Facebook, Twitter, Embassy website and YouTube (potentially: Instagram, vlogs).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Proactively plan and seek new opportunities to produce digital content for Embassy social media in order to amplify Embassy + UK Government messages and increase impact of communications;
  • Write and edit text / posts in Slovak and English – be creative and innovative in delivering Embassy objectives using digital tools;
  • Assess impact of social media activities (key performance indicators, monitoring visitor statistics, reach, engagement, membership growth, etc.);
  • Advise HMA / colleagues on best use of social media;
  • Implement FCO (plus OGD’s, No 10, British Council and other partner’s) digital campaigns as instructed by HQ;
  • Assist Lead Press Officer in delivering public diplomacy and commercial diplomacy events and projects;
  • Help with media monitoring, handling media enquiries and arranging media engagements;
  • Provide admin support to wider Political team as required.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience  
  • University degree;
  • Excellent command of English and Slovak. Editorial skills, ability to write compellingly for different target audiences;
  • Experience in digital marketing / digital comms, engaging online audiences and writing for the web;
  • Experience in video production, editing and graphic design;
  • Experience with content management systems, social media, digital analytics, etc.;
  • Awareness of new digital trends and practical experience in using digital tools;
  • A team player able to work independently and flexibly, and able to deliver under tight deadlines and/or with limited resources;
  • Willingness to occasional travel.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience 
  •  Degree or previous experience in communications, marketing or digital marketing;
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience (communications, content production /community management or marketing) is desirable.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
This is a full-time position, for a fixed term contract of 1 year with the possibility of renewal.
The monthly salary for this position is € 1,400.00 gross, payable 13 times a year.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
