Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs I. Steven Goldstein will travel to London March 5-8.

On March 6, along with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Minister of State for the Middle East, Alistair Burt, Under Secretary Goldstein will deliver opening remarks at a meeting of the Defeat-ISIS Coalition’s Communications Working Group. The Working Group meeting will focus on strengthening Coalition efforts to deny ISIS an ability to spread propaganda that incites and inspires violence. He will also conduct interviews with UK and pan-Arab press outlets on issues ranging from exposing disinformation to collaborating with the private sector on countering violent extremism.

While in London, the Under Secretary will also meet with senior UK government officials to discuss government communications strategies. Additionally, he will meet with Ambassador Woody Johnson and U.S. Embassy staff and join a number of Embassy events, including a networking session with U.S. exchange program alumni and a Patchwork masterclass on professional development with a diverse group of young British men and women. He will also meet with participants in The Drive Project, which works with UK veterans to support their recovery and rehabilitation from PTSD and physical injuries while sharing their stories through theater and school outreach. Under Secretary Goldstein and Ambassador Johnson will also co-host an event with the One World Strong Foundation for survivors and first responders of the London and Manchester terror attacks.
