Russian-Armenian University Continues to Strengthen Ties with China

On June 19, the delegation from Guangdong Province, China, visited Russian-Armenian University. The delegation included Director General of Liaison Work Committee of the Guangdong Committee at the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Ye Xiaoshi, Secretary of the General Office of Guangdong Public Diplomacy [JB emphasis] Association Elly Yu, President of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine the Second Clinical College of Guangzhou University of C.M. Guangdong Province Academy of Chinese Medical Science Dr. Chen Dacan and representative of the Foreign Affairs Office of People's Government of Guangdong province Lu Penghao.

During the visit, they met with RAU Vice-Rectors, Head of Department of International Cooperation and Head of RAU Chinese Language and Culture Center and discussed the prospects for cooperation in the academic and applied fields, elaborating on the possibilities for mobility of students, scholars and professors, internships for RAU students at medical institutions in the Guangdong Province and introduction of Chinese medicine studies at RAU.

Colleagues from China welcomed the interest of RAU students in Chinese Studies, "We are glad that the students of Russian-Armenian University are interested in China, that they study the Chinese language and want to get acquainted with Chinese medicine. We are sure that today we have established a firm basis for further cooperation".

RAU Vice-Rector Gagik Sargsyan, Ph.D., suggested cooperating with high technology and biochemistry specialists based in Russian-Armenian University. President of the Academy of Chinese Medical Science of the Guangdong Province expressed his willingness to cooperate in this field, highlighting the importance of high technologies in studying the Chinese medicine.

"We are interested in cooperation with the Academy of Chinese Medical Science of the Guangdong Province, and Russian-Armenian University is ready to provide a platform for interaction not only for theoretical research, but also applied," mentioned RAU Vice-Rector for Science Professor Pargev Avetisyan.

Russian-Armenian University and the Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). According to the document, in order to expand cooperation between Armenia and Guangdong province, the parties agree to cooperate in the fields of education, culture, healthcare, to exchange experts and organize joint events. The MoU becomes effective from the moment of signing and will remain in effect for 5 years.

At the end of the meeting the sides expressed contentment with the agreement and highlighted that they were looking forward to further cooperation.
