Firm responsible for raising $60m to design, build, and operate the pavilion

Dubai: The US Department of State plans to work with the Big Things Group as its partner for the US pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Current design plans, based on the theme “What Moves You,” are for a US pavilion that showcases the best of American culture, technology, and values, particularly in the field of mobility.

The statement from the Department said that the partner is responsible for raising $60 million (Dh220 million) to design, build, and operate the pavilion.

In October 2017, the Department of State conveyed to the UAE its intention to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai.

Expo 2020 Dubai, with 25 million visitors, will be the world’s largest gathering in 2020 and one of the most important commercial and public diplomacy [JB emphasis] event of the Trump Administration.

The US pavilion at the 2020 World’s Fair will highlight American ingenuity and leadership in commerce and culture, particularly in the field of mobility: social, physical, and mechanical.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be the first Expo or World’s Fair in the Middle East, North Africa, or South Asia. During the six-month Expo, six million visitors are expected to visit the US pavilion — alone, which equates to twice as many visitors per day as the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.

Once sufficient funds have been raised, the Department will sign a final participation contract with the Expo 2020 organisers confirming the United States’ participation.
