Carrying forward treaty spirit, deepening friendly cooperation

On August 11, the symposium on “Carrying Forward Treaty Spirit, Deepening Friendly Cooperation—Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship” was held in Beijing. Former Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo attended the conference and delivered the opening address. President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Xie Fuzhan and former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama attended the opening ceremony and respectively made keynote speeches.

Vice-president of CASS Cai Fang presided over the opening ceremony. Distinguished guests including former Vice-president of CASS Wu Yin, former President of the National Defense Academy of Japan Makoto Iokibe and Vice-chairman of the China Public Diplomacy Association Hu Zhengyue also attended the opening ceremony.

The symposium was sponsored by CASS and jointly organized by the Institute of Japanese Studies at CASS and the China Public Diplomacy  [JB emphasis] Association. Over 100 friendly personnel, scholars and experts from China and Japan participated in the event.
