Here is some history of the American Center Moscow.

We  had such a center in the Embassy when I served there as Counselor for Press and Culture, 1967-69, and I believe that it was opened in 1967. Our audience was mainly African students in Moscow, and they came, for the most part, to hear the Center’s music recordings and to practice their English.
