State Department Rep On Campus

Anne Callaghan, a representative from the US State Department, will be on campus [Western New Mexico University, 10/26] to discuss opportunities for students to be exposed to careers in the US Department offers abroad. She will also be delivering a talk for Delta Mu Delta at 5:30pm.

Anne Callaghan Bio

Anne Callaghan, a State Department Senior Foreign Service Officer, is the Diplomat in Residence at University of New Mexico. Prior to this assignment, Anne was Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Vancouver, Canada (2011-21014) and leader of a Provincial Reconstruction Team in southeastern Iraq (2010-2011). Anne started her career in Mexico 30 years ago with assignments at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City and the U.S. Consulate General in Tijuana, opening the first public diplomacy border affairs office. She also served in Perth, Australia; Tokyo, Japan; Rome, Italy; Bogota, Colombia; and Washington, D.C. Before joining the Foreign Service, Anne worked at the Center for Research in International Studies at Stanford University. A native of New Jersey, she received her undergraduate degree in East Asian Studies from Colby College and graduate degrees from the University of Michigan School of Library and Information Science and the National War College.
