A North Korean artist who once painted propaganda posters for the country’s ruling dynasty now paints caricatures of those same leaders “using the same visual language but…inverting its message….[to unhinge] the propaganda message.” Meanwhile, Mexico is seeking to challenge negative stereotypes abroad by emphasizing the country’s creative talent and culture through fashion, while Iran wants to open global access to Persian literature by translating these works into other languages.
