USC Center on Public Diplomacy Summer Institute Curriculum

Course Structure

Each day of the Summer Institute will consist of a full day of courses from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. There will be a program Orientation and Welcome Reception on Sunday, July 10, 2016. The Closing Ceremony will take place immediately following the last session which will include dinner and the presentation of certificates.

5. Framing Public Diplomacy

9. Media and Public Opinion Framework
10. Nation/Place Branding
11.Trends in Global Public Opinion and Country Perception
12. Using Secondary Data for Research and Evaluation

1. China's Public Diplomacy
2. Creativity, Improvisation and Leadership
3. Cultural Diplomacy
4. Crowdsourcing in Public Diplomacy
5. Designing and Planning PD Strategies
6. Digital Tools and Analytics
7. Global Los Angeles: Partnerships for Local Public Diplomacy Impact
8. Media and Public Opinion Framework
9. Regional Issues in Public Diplomacy
10. Strategic Communication
