The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of U.S. Embassy Banjul is pleased to announce that funding is available through the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Grants Program. This is an Annual Program Statement outlining our funding priorities, strategic themes, and procedures for submitting requests for funding.

The purpose of Public Diplomacy Grants:

Embassy Public Diplomacy (PD) grants are intended for local representatives of civil society, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), think tanks, and universities, to support exchange between the U.S. and the Gambia with the aim of improving mutual respect and understanding.  PAS will ONLY consider grants that have an American component or aspect in their proposal.  This could include but is not limited to, having an American expert as a speaker, using curriculum developed by a U.S. institution, projecting an American film, or using content and knowledge gained during an exchange program in the United States.

Proposals should be related to one or more of the following U.S. Embassy priorities:

1. Strengthen Democratic Institutions, Support Good Governance, and Advance Human Rights;
2. Promote Economic Development, Support Gambians’ Access to Sufficient and Nutritious Food; and
3. Advance Health, Bolster Education to Enhance Social Welfare.

Funding information

• Floor of Individual Award Amounts: $1,000 USD
  Ceiling of Individual Award Amounts: $25,000 USD
• Local grant projects generally must be completed in one year or less.

Eligible Country: The Gambia

Application Submission

Proposals should be submitted via email to the U.S. Embassy Banjul Public Diplomacy Section at the email address provided on the Embassy’s website. Proposal can also be accepted in hard copy and should be delivered to: Public Diplomacy Section, ATTN: PAS Funding Proposal, U.S. Embassy Banjul, Kairaba Avenue

When submitting a proposal, applicants are required to include:

• federal Assistance Application
• complete and submit a detailed, line item budget proposal in U.S. dollars
• must have a Unique Entity Identifier ( Not applicable to individuals)
• Organizations must also maintain a current and active SAM registration

The U.S. Embassy also encourages proposals that include other sources of funding. This could be the use of highly skilled volunteers.

Review and Selection Process

Each application submitted under this announcement will be evaluated and rated on the basis of the evaluation criteria outlined below.

• Goals and Objectives – 30 points
• Strengths and Innovation – 30 points
• Sustainability – 20 points
• Organizational Capacity – 10 points
• Budget and Budget Justification – 10 points
