AFTER BEING ASKED FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME BY SOVIET VISITORS
to a U.S. cultural exchange exhibit here in 1978-79 "What is the most popular musical group in America?", the 3 guides who worked the exhibit's popular music stand simply broke down. There were only so many ways a conversation could go after you'd said "The Bee Gees" (Би Джиз) or "The Village People" (Виллидж Пипл) and all of them were damaging critical anterior lobes of our brainpans. So we began -- purely defensively! -- making stuff up. Yes, lying. LOOK, YOU WEREN'T THERE, OK?!? Oops, sorry....
Anyway, my favorite bogus answer was "Devo" -- the greatest thing ever from Akron, OH -- and a group abt which you could say almost anything and be right. And interesting, sort of. Thx, Stephen, it's nice to see somebody else remembers them. https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devo
