We are proud to welcome the President of Global Ties U.S, Katherine Brown and Former U.S Department of State Foreign Service Officer, Julie Moyes to discuss the critical importance of public diplomacy [JB emphasis] and why our local engagement in San Diego matters. From 2013-2016, Katherine Brown served as Executive Director of the United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy, a body authorized by Congress to oversee and promote U.S. government activities that intend to understand, inform, and influence foreign publics. Most recently, she was a Public Policy Manager at Facebook, Inc. where she was also in residence as a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow. ...

Julie Moyes, Former U.S Department of State Foreign Service Officer

Julie Moyes retired as a U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Officer after 32 years of service. She served as Consul General in Edinburgh, as the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in the Hague, and in several other foreign and U.S. posts. Her last job was training diplomats how to effectively use soft power to advance U.S. foreign-policy objectives. ...
