US Embassy welcomes Ruth Urry, new Cultural Attaché

Santo Domingo.- US Embassy Public Affairs councilor James Russo on Wednesday hosted a reception in his residence to welcome the mission´s new Cultural Attaché, Ruth Urry.

Urry has directed the Embassy´s Cultural Section since last August, and includes events and aspects of bilateral cooperation in culture and academia.

Prior to her appointment to the Dominican Republic Urry worked as Public Diplomacy officer in Guatemala City and has also carried out diplomatic duties in Manila and Bogota. She has also worked in the Washington D.C. Operations Center as part of the US representation to the Organization of American States (OAS).

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Urry´s academic accomplishments include degree in Hispanic-American literature from Reed College and an MBA from Tulane University in Latin American Studies as well as a master's degree in political science from Georgetown University.

Her husband Norman Galimba and their two children, Tommy, 5, and Naomi, 3 will accompany the diplomat during her stay in the country.
