Six young Saint Lucians to participate in hospitality and tourism workshop in Taiwan

Six talented young men and women will undergo in-depth training as part of a hospitality and tourism workshop to be held in Taiwan from November 12, 2018, to January 22, 2019.

At an event to see the participants off held on Thursday, November 8, Taiwan’s ambassador, Douglas C. T. Shen, encouraged them to bring back the latest ideas and skills from Taiwan’s hospitality and tourism industries when they return to Saint Lucia in January. He also thanked Sarah Flood Beaubrun, Minister with responsibility for External Affairs, for making the relevant arrangements, and for her dedication to building human resources capacity in Saint Lucia.

Attending the event to wish the participants well were Fortuna Belrose, Minister in the Ministry of Tourism, Information and Broadcasting, Culture and Creative Industries with responsibility for Culture and Creative Industries, and Elma Gene-Isaac, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. Minister Belrose encouraged the participants to serve as goodwill ambassadors by showcasing Saint Lucia’s best qualities during their stay in Taiwan, and expressed her appreciation for Taiwan’s continuing contributions toward the development of Saint Lucia’s human resources.

The workshop, organized and funded by Taiwan’s international development agency, the International Cooperation and Development Fund, aims to enhance human resources and strengthen vocational training systems throughout the Caribbean. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Shen stressed that Taiwan will continue to work with Saint Lucia and its other diplomatic allies and partner countries to enhance their human resources.

The Saint Lucian workshop participants are Shavonne George Emmanuel, Trudy Melba Everiste, Veronica Cecilia Felix, Shana Khodra-Jn Baptiste, Nikkev Randal Louis, and Lisa Paul.
