DOHA, Qatar, June 22, 2016 -- Al Jazeera Media Network ("AJMN" or "Al Jazeera") today announced that it is the international broadcasting partner to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit ("GES" or the "Summit") being held in Silicon Valley in California today through Friday, June 24th. Since 2009, GES has served as a global platform connecting emerging entrepreneurs with leaders from business, international organizations, and governments looking to support them.

Abdulla Al Najjar, Executive Director of AJMN Global Brand and Communications, said, "The Global Entrepreneurship Summit has established itself as an important event – fostering vital connections between entrepreneurs and those with the experience and reach, to help them bring their ideas to life. The Summit's choice of Al Jazeera as its international broadcasting partner is a clear reflection of the quality and breadth of our award-winning reporting, and at the same time underscores our commitment to the US market."

Coverage from the Summit

This Summit will be the 7th installment in a series previously hosted by the United States and the governments of Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Morocco, and Kenya. In bringing the Summit back to the United States, President Obama highlights his commitment to building bridges that help nations tackle global challenges together.

Al Jazeera's leading journalists will cover breaking news and information from GES, as well as conduct interviews with a wide range of speakers and attendees, including the first ever AJ+ Facebook Live interview with Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel. AJ+, AJMN's online news channel, has been viewed in English more than four billion times since its launch less than two years ago.

Additional highlights of Al Jazeera's coverage of GES will include for Al Jazeera English a range of news and current affairs reported by leading Al Jazeera reporters; science and technology reporting by Tarek Bazley; and a special edition of "Counting the Cost" with host Kamahl Santamaria. Coverage highlights for Al Jazeera Arabic include: special editions of Abderrahim Foukara's "From Washington" broadcasts; ongoing breaking news, current affairs and business coverage reported by Wajd Waqfi; and live social media coverage from online reporter Mostafa Al Bakkali.

As previously announced, Al Jazeera intends to expand its existing international digital services to broaden its digital presence into the U.S. later this year.

Al Jazeera Media strives to deliver content that captivates, informs, inspires and entertains. Launched in 1996, Al Jazeera was the first independent news channel in the Arab world dedicated to providing comprehensive news and live debate. It challenged established narratives and gave a global audience an alternative voice - one that put the human being back at the centre of the news agenda - quickly making it one of the world's most influential news networks. Since then the network has added new channels and services, with more than 70 bureaus around the world and a reach into 305 million homes worldwide.
