Excerpt:Accra, Aug 24, GNA - The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has received cash donations and other packages from five companies towards the 21st Awards ceremony of the Association.
The United States Embassy presented GH¢ 10,000 for the Best Reporter on Anti-Corruption, World Vision presented a sponsorship package of GH¢ 30,000 including cash and material prize for the Best Reporter on Child Protection, a training package for 25 journalists and a cash contribution towards the event.
The others are SADA; GH¢ 10,000, the Gaming Commission; GH¢ 5000 and Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Co. Ltd; GH¢ 100,000.
Mr Daniel Fennell, the Minister-Counselor in charge of Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy of the US Embassy, noted that Ghana represents the future of free press and the Embassy would continue to support that agenda.
He said information helped people to make informed decisions and thus urged the media to be mindful of the information they disseminate to sustain the peace of the country. ...
