Strategy of public diplomacy of the Crimean Tatar people for 2 years, presented in Kiev the first Deputy Minister of information policy of Ukraine Emine [D]zhaparova.

«This project is designed for 2 years, until 2017. It has a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part aims to develop the implementation of the program we are presenting today. Public part … includes specific steps that we plan to implement to increase awareness of the international community about the Crimean Tatar people, consolidation of the Crimean Tatar society and the Ukrainian society around the theme of indigenous peoples, which, in fact, is new» — presented the strategy dzhaparova at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday August 9, «Interfax-Ukraine».

According to her, when the document experts tried to make it as accessible and «alive», so that easily be implemented in practice.

In turn, the expert of the Estonian Institute for human rights (AIPL), a member of the UN permanent Forum on indigenous issues (UNPFII) Oliver Loode has informed that the document aims to create a «network of alliances» of the Crimean Tatar people around the world. Also, the project aims to present an image of the Crimean Tatar people as part of the European society which shares European values and principles. Another goal of the strategy is the ability to respond quickly to international developments.

Strategy of public diplomacy of the Crimean Tatars aims to make a significant contribution to the full realization of individual and collective rights of Crimean Tatars as indigenous people of Crimea and Ukraine. It was developed as part of the international project «defending the rights of the Crimean Tatar people through public diplomacy» with the support of the Estonian Institute for human rights, Fund for development cooperation Ministry of foreign Affairs of Estonia, a representative of the President of Ukraine on Affairs of the Crimean Tatar people, the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine and Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people.

We will remind that in June the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko told about the mechanism of amending the Constitution to create in the Crimea a national autonomy of Crimean Tatars. «I’m sure we had to do this before. All presidents, all power used to be afraid of the Crimean Tatars, and had more trust in the Outpost of Ukrainians in Crimea», — said Poroshenko and added that the model will be familiar: the transfer of the draft to the Constitutional Commission, project handling, discussion and pass it to the Verkhovna Rada.
