Carmena offers Borrell to open Casa Africa’s delegation in Madrid

The Mayor of Madrid, Manuela Carmena, was received yesterday at the Palace of Viana by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Josep Borrell, to whom she offered the opening of a delegation of Casa Africa in the capital. ...

The mayor has also offered the minister to open in Madrid a delegation from Casa África, whose headquarters are located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. According to Carmena, the delegation would serve as an “antenna” for this institution of Spanish public diplomacy [JB emphasis] -which is made up of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and the City of Las Palmas- to achieve a rapprochement the capital to the African countries, is especially the sub-Saharan area. ...

The mayor and Borrell agreed the day before at the opening ceremony of the Casa de México in Madrid, which was also attended by the Mexican Foreign Affairs Secretary, Luis Videgaray; the ambassador of Mexico in Spain, Roberta Lajous; the general director of the House, Ximena Caraza; and the president of the Casa de México Foundation in Spain, Valentín Díez Morodo.
