The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for (01) position of Information Assistant in the Public Diplomacy Section (PD).

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)








SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 9,123,040 p.a. (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-07)

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :
The incumbent advises and assists the Information Specialist in planning, developing, scheduling and administering a country-wide media program that both promotes U.S. policy and engages the public. The Information Assistant - Digital outreach has the responsibility for monitoring digital media trends and developing the "e-voice" of the Mission. The incumbent also supports the public diplomacy activities and initiatives of the other PD units and other Mission sections. The incumbent serves as back up to the Information Specialist.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
1. EDUCATION : Completion of secondary education and the equivalent of one year Post-Secondary training in all forms of communication or university social sciences is required.
2. EXPERIENCE : One or two years of progressive work experience is required.
3. LANGUAGE : Level III English and Level IV French speaking and writing ability is required as proven through the technical test. English language skill will be tested
4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Proficiency in the use of personal computers, mobile technology, and advanced software suites such as the Microsoft suite is required ; ability to exercise initiative,
work independently, and demonstrate resourcefulness and judgment in obtaining information drafting ; concise reports in English; familiarity with digital media platforms and use of the Internet is required. —These will be tested.
5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Working knowledge of the digital media environment is required as demonstrated in the technical test and the interview.
A thorough understanding of youth culture and the information technology relevant to reaching youth audiences is necessary.
