[I]n terms of our international public diplomacy and room for maneuver, we need to be able to move with the Arab countries and with our allies, including of course Turkey and other countries in the region and beyond, in order not only to provide Palestinians economic safety and release from Israeli pressure, but to facilitate clear voices calling for Israel to be held accountable and to ensure that Israeli behaviors are checked and curbed. ...
*Dr. Hanan Ashrawi is a Palestinian legislator, activist and scholar. Ashrawi was an important leader during the First Intifada and served as the official spokesperson for the Palestinian Delegation to the Middle East peace process. She is the first woman elected to the Palestinian National Council.
