VTV.vn - Social networks such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram are no strangers to many Vietnamese. However, the application of social networks among government agencies is still uncommon and relatively new concepts.  To help Vietnam adopt more responsive communication methods, the New Zealand Embassy organised a joint workshop with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the use of social media in diplomacy yesterday in Hanoi.

Attending the workshop, many officials, diplomats and university lecturers heard their first concepts on public diplomacy. Public diplomacy is the way a country communicates; attracts and inform people and public of another country.

The use of social networks to reach the public needs to be prioritised by the Vietnamese government and related agencies, especially during a period where the country is increasingly integrating into the global community.
