Thurber House names Masha Hamilton writer-in-residence

Thurber House [see] has named Masha Hamilton its 2017 John E. Nance writer-in-residence.
Hamilton is the author of five novels, including "The Camel Bookmobile" and "31 Steps." She also founded two reading and writing projects in Afghanistan and Africa, and received the 2010 Women's National Book Association Award for her work in the areas of literacy and books. ...
Hamilton has worked for the Associated Press and Los Angeles Times. She also served as the director of communications and public diplomacy for the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan in 2012 and '13. While in Afghanistan, she founded the Afghan Women's Writing Project and the Camel Book Drive. ...
